If your business stores hazard materials than it’s that time of year again to conduct your Tier II Reporting to TCEQ, which is required by the Right to Know Act. An electronic report should be submitted between January 1st-March 1st through the EPA Tier II submit software for the previous calendar year. The report contains information on stored hazardous chemicals at a facility meeting or exceeding threshold quantities, is required by federal and state law and designed to help each community prepare and respond to emergencies involving hazardous substances by also notifying your local LEPC and fire department.
New things to be aware of prior to submitting your report:
• 2017 Tier II Annual reports are due March 1st, 2018. Submit reports using the Tier2Submit software.
• Due to Hurricane Harvey response and recovery, the TCEQ will roll out the new Tier II online reporting system after April 2018.
• Starting January 2018 reports must include a customer number (CN), regulated entity number (RN), and TXT2 number.
• The List of NAICS codes has been updated. You must include the updated 2017 NAICS code in your 2017 Tier II report.
